In this adapted class for contemporary dance – a mixture of Laban and Limon style – we will focus on exploring our kinesphere (personal space), largely within a small space. We will experiment with balances, swings and falls, work with toning exercises, coupled with beautiful short dance sequences, to be learned adapted and played with. Our aim is to find that feeling of freedom
within any given limitations.
You will need about 2 square meters space (think moving to the front, side and back comfortably.) The space should be clear of anything you might slip or trip on or bump into. You can wear whatever is comfortable, go barefoot or wear socks, whichever is safer. We will do some movements standing, sitting, and lying down. Moving across the space may not be possible.
